Oral Health = Whole Health: The Mouth-Body Connection
Your mouth is connected to the rest of your body — research links gum disease to a higher risk of heart disease, and uncontrolled gum inflammation can make it harder to manage diabetes. Chronic oral infections have also been associated with complications during pregnancy and increased inflammation throughout the body.
That's why we look at more than just your teeth. During your visit, we screen for early signs of gum disease and talk with you about how conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and even vitamin deficiencies can show up in your mouth first.
A few habits go a long way: keep up with your six-month cleanings, mention any change in your general health to us, and see your primary care doctor for routine screenings — your dental team and your doctor are both part of the same picture of your health.
